Pi Zero based Midi Host
![]() I needed a midi host - a device which replaces a computer when connecting midi devices together. Commercially available quite cheaply but no supply available for 2-3 months. DIY it is then! So, this is a Pi Zero 2 W with a usb hat. It connects my custom midi switchboard to a tc electronic 2290p delay pedal. OS is the latest 64bit headless version and uses a startup script to connect the necessary ports together using aconnect. Works flawlessly. In case I need to access the device while at a gig, I have it connect to my phone hotspot and also Pi connect. That way, it's accessible no matter which Wifi or cell is available. It's powered from my pedalboard PS and consumes a mere 200ma even on startup. Small enough to mount under my pedalboard |
